The Infiltration

Our heroes arrived at Villa Liborio in good order. Xanther, disguised as Salvatore (the bethrothed), took point and got the party in the house, past Marchesa Liborio (the woman of the house). Anzo introduced himself as Sir Verryn, Salvatore’s cousin and best man, and the elves passed as Sir Tinenth and Sir Serrad, of Korvosa.

The party knew that Bassanio‘s collarbone would be found in the villa’s tower, attached to the building’s abandoned wing. Once everyone went to bed, the party sprang into action, albeit somewhat disfunctionally. Xanther set off on his own through the window, with Anzo bumbling after to keep an eye on him. The elves went straight down the hall to the abandoned wing.

Meanwhile, Lambert “Bert” Morphis, an alchemist, made his way into the abandoned wing ahead of the elves. He was looking for a magical helm that once belonged to the Evilbird clan of the Scar Fling Orc Tribe, as proof that the Evilbirds were defeated by the Humans of Villa Liborio, rather than the other way around. He punched his way through the door, and was soon confronted by living suits of armor!

Another adventurer, Naiaer, who was staying at the villa under the name of Lady Vallelunga, crept to the roof and started toward the tower. She made it all the way without trouble, and began her descent toward Bassanio’s tomb, where she too hoped to find his collarbone in order to barter for information about her sister from Captain Albano.

Xanther and Anzo scaled the building and were close to reaching the tower themselves when the roof gave way and dropped them right into combat with the armor suits. While Anzo chopped, Xanther rushed ahead, meeting some skeletons in the process!

Mistaken Identity

Four of our heroes found themselves together in a tavern in Riddleport. Xanther was hiding out as a bartender, Anzo was drinking—having just been chased out back to town by angry Shoanti—and the elven Marshals Nolthenius and Velekhwere going over their clues in their ongoing hunt for the enigmatic fugitive, Skeltur.

After a run-in with a drunk brought our heroes into brief contact, Anzo noticed a creepy figure watching them intently. He strode over, convinced the figure must want to know about his religion, but the figure had darker designs.

The creep (Mercutio) worked for Captain Albano, an undead pirate boss. He wanted to take our heroes to see the captain, but they refused, so the captain came to them. The captain explained that he had learned how to break the curse of undeath, placed on him 400 years ago. All he needed was the left collar bone of Bassanio, the friend who cursed him, and how now rests under Villa Liborio.

Albano went on to explain that he had planned to force a nephew of the family, Salvatore, to steal the bone for him. The nephew was coming to town from Korvosa for an arranged marriage to a Scarnetti woman (in order to end the feud between their families). Albano’s forces in Riddleport were a bit rough, though, and Salvatore and his entourage were now dead, rather than simply coerced. Fortunately, the creep noticed the heroes were the spitting image of Salvatore and his guards (thinking, at first, that they were Salvatori & co.).

When the heroes expressed reluctance at helping the pirate, Captain Albano had Mercutio put a spell on them, to compel them to assist. With little other recourse, the heroes (now a party) set off on horseback for Villa Liborio.

On the road the next day, the party encountered some Scarnetti thugs, who were from a faction within the organization that opposed ending the feud via marriage. The party dispatched these thugs with ease and rode on, confident in their ‘disguises’.

A blog for your campaign

Every campaign gets an Adventure Log, a blog for your adventures!

While the wiki is great for organizing your campaign world, it’s not the best way to chronicle your adventures. For that purpose, you need a blog!

The Adventure Log will allow you to chronologically order the happenings of your campaign. It serves as the record of what has passed. After each gaming session, come to the Adventure Log and write up what happened. In time, it will grow into a great story!

Best of all, each Adventure Log post is also a wiki page! You can link back and forth with your wiki, characters, and so forth as you wish.

One final tip: Before you jump in and try to write up the entire history for your campaign, take a deep breath. Rather than spending days writing and getting exhausted, I would suggest writing a quick “Story So Far” with only a summary. Then, get back to gaming! Grow your Adventure Log over time, rather than all at once.
